I am a children's entertainer in the

Pittsburgh area, and I specialize in telling tales that teach. The lessons in my stories center on a unifying moral theme and utilize audience interaction. These themes aim to teach character traits and attitudes that children can utilize not only now, but throughout their lives.

Welcome! I am

Starla the Storyteller.

Themes in the past have included “working together,” “recycle and renew,” and “be kind and polite” amongst others. Traditional storytelling stimulates children’s imaginations, as each child can visualize in his or her mind the events of the story. This type of storytelling is also perfect for audience interaction, as the eye contact between the orator and the listener encourages participation.

Including a storytime performance this year can be a dynamic addition to your curriculum. Enjoying a fairy tale shared the original way can be a great enhancement to a literary unit, a history unit, a science unit, church program, or any number of creative projects. Here is a quote from one of your peers:

“Starla the Storyteller is an amazing asset to our literacy program.  She keeps the children entertained and the lessons are age appropriate.  The children are so excited to hear her storytelling, and talk about it for days.” ~Michele Kerrigan, Owner/Director at Joshua’s Tree Preschool

Performances last roughly 30-40 minutes. You can select an established theme that suits your lesson plan, or I can custom create one for you.

I hope to tell tales that teach with your students this  year!

Truly,

Starla the Storyteller☆

P.S.: I'm excited that now I'm available to share stories anywhere in the world thanks to Virtual Performances!
